New Camera!

I don't have any new jewellery to show you at the moment as I've been getting used to my new camera and playing with all the settings.  It's my first DSLR - a Nikon D3200.  My Grandfather loved photography and I think it's been passed on down to me.  He died before I was born, so I never got to meet him, but I hope he would have been proud of our shared interest in photography and gadgetry.
As I'm getting the hang of the new way I have to take photos - including a new setup that allows me to use more natural light - I'll slowly be updating my previous photos.  I might not bother with the photos of my personal jewellery right now, as I want to focus on the Spring/Summer stuff I've been creating and the I Heart...Collection.  As a test, I've updated the photos for the Starfish Earrings, and I think you'll agree how much improved they are.  The colours are much more true-to-life and I don't have to edit so much post photo.  All future photos will hopefully look like this, as I get ready to add them to my Etsy shop - as promised after Easter.  It will be slow going as I'm retaking photos as well now.

Good News, Everyone!

Sorry - been watching too much Futurama lately!

I'll be getting my new camera soon and once I do, I'm going to retake all the photos of my jewellery.  Why is this good news?  Well, first off the photos will hopefully be clearer and you'll be able to see the mistakes details better.  Second, it means I'll be adding the new jewellery I've made to my Etsy shop for you to buy.  I've already started pricing them so they should be available to buy - say sometime after Easter Sunday.  Maybe not all at once, as it takes me some time to upload them.  I also hope to donate a portion of my sales to mental health charity Mind, as without them and my therapists, I wouldn't have found this wonderful hobby/distraction.  I'll continue making in the meantime - I have an idea for an Easter design and next week I'll share the two new additions to the I Heart...Collection, as well as some other designs.

Neon Punk Bracelet

I've been taking on many complex projects lately, so every now and then it's nice to just create something simple.

I Heart...Dragons Bracelet

As promised, we start the week with a new addition to the I Heart...Collection.  There seem to be an abundance of necklaces in the collection at the moment and even though that's what I like to create most, I wanted to make another bracelet.  This time I've decided to go with a cuff style.
I love Dragons and I think they are my favourite mythological creature.  Also, my Chinese astrological animal is the dragon, which I share with my Mother.  So I created this bracelet, drawing on inspiration from them.

Happy Birth/Mother's Day!

I don't usually post at the weekend, especially when it's my birthday!  However I was silly enough to be born around Mother's Day here in the UK so today I have to share the celebration of my arrival on this Earth with celebrating the amazing woman who gave birth to me. I don't have much to offer, so I thought I'd add to the ever expanding collection of jewellery that I have made for her.
As you may or may not be aware, I adore semi-precious gemstones and they are my favourite to work with.  I love the random beauty of natural stones.  I was excited when one of my favourite sites [Beads Direct] to get gemstones were having a sale as it gave me an opportunity to work with a stone I've wanted to buy for a while - Druzy Agate:

Mistakes & Work in Progress

Hi everyone, I haven't forgotten to upload but recent projects have been kicking my ass!

I'm trying a Cellini spiral for my next addition to the I Heart...Collection, however I wasn't pleased with my first attempt.

Beaded Cross Necklace

I've spent this weekend designing and making new items for the I Heart...Collection, but I haven't had time to take any photos yet. Due to some chaotic happenings over the weekend, I'm not sure how regularly I'll be posting this week.
Today's item is a gothic necklace (my favourite theme!) based around a tutorial from Ruby's Beadwork for a beaded cross pendant.
